Character Name: Charles-Geneviève-Louis-Auguste-André-Timothée D'eon de Beaumont (goes by D'eon de Beaumont)
Name that appears on plaque:Charles-Geneviève-Louis-Auguste-André-Timothée D'eon de Beaumont
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] gender_at_will
Canon: Le chevalier D'eon
Point in Canon: Episode four, before his sisters soul peacefully integrates with his body.
Age: 24
Birthday: October 5, 1728
Appearance: French. D'eon has a slender, feminine build. Long blonde hair typically tied back in a ponytail. His eyes are a bright shade of green. He wears typical French noble garb for his era, and is always sure to look appropriate.

Abilities:

D’eon himself is very quick witted, gifted with words, and skilled in fencing. The historical figure who he was based on was actually known as quite possibly the best swordsmen of his time. He is strong and quick, but only humanly so. When things are looking bad for him, however, he will become possessed by his sister, Lia, who is better then him at...well, everything. As his sister he (she?) can recite poems called psalms that can grant the user various skills, some can grant the gift of extreme strength, some can turn a person’s body against them, and still others can make your head explode. Lia seems to use them for gifted quickness, an extra deadly edge to her sword, an increase in physical strength, paralysis, choking, interrupting other palms, and the occasional head explosion.

Personality:

D’eon is mostly your typical 18th century French nobleman. He holds himself respectful and with grace and honor. He is polite, kind, and very gentle, only taking up his sword for the sake of others. He does not often display his emotions, as doing so is looked down upon in the Royal Court in this era. He usually comes off with a rather flat affect, all emotions presented are controlled, unless something is truly bothering him. Then if he is in private confines with those he considers friends, he may become more outspoken, which while most of our day will think nothing of, it is HIGHLY inappropriate to him.

He is VERY religious as most from his time are, and as expected he holds the word of religious doctrine as law. So he’s a superstitious fellow, and will probably not take a liking to anything or anyone who is gifted supernaturally. He is also just as loyal to his king, so loyal in fact that he has been made part of the French secret police known as Le Secret du Roi, an organization outside of the law set up by the king himself.

As for Lia’s personality, before death she was a strong, smart, and fiery woman, but in death she has become full of rage, with a burning desire for vengeance. However her rage will rapidly switch to sorrow and then back to rage. D’eon can feel this, and it upsets him greatly to feel his sister’s spirit in such strife, causing him to go into bouts of depression after he is possessed.

Strengths:

-brilliant tactician
-diplomat
-kind and compassionate
-well mannered and proper
-skilled swordsman
-can turn into his sister who is 10 times better then him at EVERYTHING
-even if he doesn't approve of a person he can bullshit it for the sake of diplomacy.

Weaknesses:

-his compassion can make him hesitate in dire situations
-his sister is a very vengeful spirit and he does not have control over the possessions
-technologically retarded
-due to his time period he is not very accepting of "non-Christian" things. Like witches and the supernatural as well as things like homosexuality.
-he's always got his mind on business, to the point of neglecting enjoying doing ANYTHING.

History:

D’eon was born October 5th 1728 to an attorney and a noblewoman. He excelled in school and graduated from Collège Mazarin in Paris in 1749. He and his sister were both trained by a renowned veteran knight, Teillagory, in the art of fencing. He also bestowed upon them the ideals of being a loyal knight. The siblings grew up as fine nobles, both serving the King personally. D’eon worked within Versailles and was betrothed to a humble young woman named Anna, while Lia took a much more dangerous job as a spy in Russia.

One day the perils of Lia’s occupation caught up with her, as her body is discovered in a floating coffin on one of the rivers flowing through Paris, the word ‘Psalms’ written in blood on the top of her casket. Her corpse was not allowed by the church to be buried, due to it’s inability to rot, as it has been filled with mercury. Unable to return to ‘the dust from whence she came’ her soul was forced to wander the Earth unable to reach heaven. This is how her soul came to posses her brother, using him as a vessel for her vengeance.

Unable to leave his sister’s death in such a tangled mystery, he joins a small group of knights. With them, he patrols the city in the evening hours to investigate the disappearances of young woman throughout Paris, believing it to be related to his sister’s death. One night they discover a group of smuggles transporting mercury-filled corpses, all laid in boxes with the word ‘Psalms’ written in blood on the boxes and H.O engraved on their foreheads (Yes, they’re HO’s). Wasting no time taking the smugglers into custody and interrogating them they discover that a Russian man by the name of Baransov who is in the Court of the Duke of Orléans. D’eon takes this brief reprieve to research what the Psalms are, and quickly reveals them to be a series of poems in the Bible. With the permission of the Duke they raid the Russian’s living quarters and discover several mercury-filled corpses and well as a list of all the high ranking French officials, written in blood.

When discussing what to do with the leader of this little militia, Bernice, it is decided that the documents will be held by D’eon. When making there next move they are attacked, all but D’eon and Bernice are killed, however Bernice is kidnapped by the attacker who sports superhuman strength. When D’eon returns to his home he finds his maid slaughtered and his house ransacked. He discovers a note left behind, offering an exchange for his friend’s life for the documents. When he arrives he discovers that Bernice has been transformed into some sort of monster, the letters H.O branded on his forehead. He is quickly overpowered by Bernice’s superhuman strength, and in a desperate moment he prays the Psalm of Vengence. The moment he loses consciousness his sister takes over his body and makes quick work of Bernice. Thus begins D’eon’s struggle with his sister’s ghost and the mystery of her death and these poems called Psalms.

First Person Sample:

[D’eon groggily sat up, an odd beeping noise ringing incessantly in his ears. He brings a hand to his head and looks about the room. Odd, he didn’t recall sleeping in an inn this eve. And where were his comrades? Perhaps Lia had taken over once more during a fight? D’eon looked down, he didn’t appear to be injured in any way. Perhaps Lia went easy on his body this time. Well there was no use dwelling on it, he needed to get dressed and meet up with Teillagory and the others to discuss the pressing matters at hand.

All through the ritual process of getting dressed he couldn’t shake this strange noise, constantly beeping at him. It almost sounded like a small animal but it was far too melodic to be one. After adjusting his petticoat and taking his sword he left to head out of the door, but stopped and turned around at the strange beeping. He looked about the room, scanning for any oddity that could be the cause of the noise. He eyes finally settled on a shiny blue device on the bedstand, the like of which he had never seen before. Curiously he approached the object, a hand on his sword, it looked pretty harmless, but just in case. The moment it came into view a face blinked on the screen and it began to talk, out of reflex he draws his swords and stabs the accursed object in it’s center, silencing it. He wasn’t aware of the nature of the foul, unholy craft had been laid in his bedchamber, but he had a feeling that he needed to approach the hallways with caution.

He turned once more to leave, only this his sword was drawn and ready.

Third Person Sample:

“My Dearest Anna,”

D’eon looked at the words scrawled on the parchment, for some reason they didn’t feel right, but he had already wasted three sheets of parchment starting with the exact same line. For some odd reason he had no difficulties writing lengthy pages on the progress of his mission to the very King of France, but writing a simple greeting to his betrothed had already taken almost all morning and the effort had yet to bare any fruit.

He let out a weary sigh and glanced over at the door. Robin was sitting idly reading over a book he had borrowed from the library of Versailles, or to be more precise, he was guarding the door. D’eon had never been very good at keeping up his correspondence with Anna, and Robin would simply not have it any more. The young boy had situated himself in front of the door and refused to leave until D’eon had written a letter back to Anna. D’eon looked back at the parchment drearily, then back to Robin he opened his mouth to speak out in protest of this imprisonment. Before he could even make a sound, a loud and flat “NO.” resounded across the room. Once more he turned back to his blank sheet of parchment in despair. Robin let’s out an exasperated sigh. D’eon was such a hopeless case.

“What have you been up to? I am well. Then tell her what you’ve been doing D’eon, but don’t write a report on it or poor Anna with die of boredom before you return.”

D’eon looked up and smiled at his friend, giving a nod, such a wise boy for his age. D’eon wrote the sentence and with the greatest of ease the rest of the letter seemed to write itself.
